After postponing the lower house amid the slogans and protest of opposition members, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called an all -party meeting on Friday and urged the members to let the House run properly.
During the meeting, organizing a session on Operation Sindoor was also discussed. The proposed 16 -hour discussion in Parliament is scheduled to be held on July 28. Earlier today, both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were postponed. Now the upper house will meet at 11 am on Monday, while the Lok Sabha will start at 2 pm.
Amidst the uproar of opposition members seeking discussion on the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has called for the House to continue with discussion and dialogue. Efforts are on to form a consensus during the all -party meeting. The virtuous MPs are demanding a discussion on several major issues of public importance, including the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise being done by the Election Commission in Bihar before the upcoming assembly elections.
Earlier, Birla while addressing the lower house said, “There is a way to register a protest. If you do not want to run Parliament … then the proceedings of the House are adjourned till 2 pm today.” Meanwhile, opposition members came in the middle of the House carrying placards in their hands.
Before postponing the House, the Speaker urged the opposition members to allow the lower house to run normally and objected to the banners, saying that this “deadlock” is not right. Birla said, “Come, there will be discussion to end the deadlock. The representatives of the government will also join it … If there is disagreement then it should be expressed according to the rules of the House.”
Earlier in the day, Congress MP Manikam Tagore introduced a stay motion to discuss “depriving 52 lakh voters in Bihar on a large scale”, which he described “the Modi government’s intentional attack on constitution and democracy using the Election Commission by the Modi government”.
Since starting on July 21, the proceedings of Parliament have been repeatedly postponed for the last four days. Amidst the uproar of the opposition, the proceedings of both houses of Parliament were postponed for the day.
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge joined the protests of Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (India) MPs against the ongoing SIR of the voter list in Bihar on Friday. This protest was held at the Makar Gate of Parliament, which continued for the fifth consecutive day.
Several senior Congress leaders including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and party leader Priyanka Gandhi in the Lok Sabha also participated in the protests.
