New Delhi. Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been asked to appear in a strict tone by a Lucknow court in a strict tone. While hearing the case registered against Rahul Gandhi in the comment case on Veer Savarkar, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court imposed a fine of Rs 500 on the Congress MP. The court imposed a fine on the continuous non -appearance on the date of the case and said that Rahul Gandhi should appear on the next 14 April 2025, otherwise legal action will be taken against him.
This complaint was lodged in the court on behalf of lawyer Nripendra Pandey. In this, he alleged that on 17 December 2022, in Akola, Maharashtra, Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks on Veer Savarkar during an event and described him as a slave to the British. A complaint was filed against Rahul Gandhi under Section 156 (3). Nripendra Pandey had claimed that Rahul Gandhi had commented on Veer Savarkar with the intention of spreading malice. While hearing the complainant, the court issued summons to Rahul Gandhi more than once but he did not appear personally.
In today’s appearance, his lawyer Pranshu Aggarwal, who appeared on behalf of Rahul Gandhi, gave an application in which he said that due to being the Leader of Opposition, his client had a pre -determined schedule from a foreign dignitaries, that is why he could not appear in the court today. At the same time, complainant advocate Nripendra Pandey says that Rahul Gandhi is deliberately violating the court order and is seeking exemption from personal appearance with some excuse. The court then directed Rahul Gandhi to appear on 14 April.
