Madhya Pradesh: Truck hits school bus in Bhopal, 1 dead, many injured

A school bus carrying students was hit by a speeding truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on Thursday, killing at least one student and injuring several others. The accident took place on Thursday morning near Bhaunri Bypass in Bhopal, when they were returning from a campus visit to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and the truck hit the bus from behind at high speed. The injured students have been sent to different hospitals in the district.

India Today quoted a police officer as saying, “A total of nine children have been sent to different hospitals. The children were traveling in a bus when the speeding truck hit the school bus from behind while attempting to overtake it.” “Two children sitting at the back of the bus have sustained serious injuries, and we will know the nature of their injuries only after receiving updates from the hospitals.”

Local people and passers-by rushed to save the students and provided them immediate medical aid. Police officials have started investigation at the accident site and the identity of the speeding truck is not yet known.
