Prayagraj. Mahakumbh 2025 has started grandly in the religious city of Prayagraj in UP. Paush Purnima bath is on the first day of Mahakumbh and till the time of writing the news, about 60 lakh people had taken bath at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati river in Prayagraj. Lakhs more people are expected to take bath by evening. The first important bath of Mahakumbh 2025 being held in Prayagraj is going to take place on Tuesday, January 14, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The Akharas have named it the royal bath. Earlier it was called Shahi Snan. Apart from Makar Sankranti, other royal bathing festivals are going to take place in Mahakumbh. Sadhus and saints are the first to take bath in these royal baths. After which common people are given permission to take bath.

There are four types of Aquarius. These are called Ardha Kumbh, Purna Kumbh and Maha Kumbh. Mahakumbh happens after 144 years. Mahakumbh is organized only in Prayagraj, UP. At the same time, Ardha Kumbh takes place in 6 years and Purna Kumbh takes place in 12 years. After the royal bath of Makar Sankranti, there will be an important bath festival on Mauni Amavasya on 29th January. After this, the dates of royal bath are Basant Panchami on 3 February, Maghi Purnima on 12 February and Mahashivratri on 26 February. The last royal bath is to take place on the festival of Mahashivratri. Mahakumbh 2025 is to conclude in Prayagraj on the same date.

UP and Central Government have made tremendous arrangements for Prayagraj Mahakumbh. 41 bathing ghats including 10 permanent ghats have been built here. 30 pontoon bridges have also been prepared here for the movement of devotees. There is a system of water drones in the rivers to save any person from drowning. The entire Mahakumbh Mela site has been declared a separate district and complete administrative arrangements have been made for it. Apart from this, anti-drone system, NSG and ATS commandos have also been deployed under tight security arrangements in Mahakumbh. Mounted police has also been deployed in Prayagraj to control the crowd of devotees in Mahakumbh.
