Mahakumbh stampede is nothing, hundreds have lost their lives in these incidents

The religious conference in the Sangam area of ​​Mahakumbh turned into a nightmare for many people on Wednesday morning. On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, there was a stampede due to the arrival of crores of pilgrims for the holy bath in which many people were reported to have been reported.

However, such incidents are not new. In the last few years, many people have died due to stampede in temples and other religious events in India.

In recent years, a large number of people have died due to stampede in religious programs. On July 2 last year, 121 people died in a stampede in Swayambhu Bhole Baba’s satsang in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, mostly women.

Similarly, in 2005, more than 340 devotees were killed at the Mandhardevi temple in Maharashtra and at least 250 devotees were killed in the Chamunda Devi temple in Rajasthan in 2008. In 2008, 162 people lost their lives due to a stampede at a religious meeting at Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh.

-Two July 2024: More than 100 people including women and children were killed due to stampede in ‘Satsang’ organized by Swayambhu Bhole Baba alias Narayan Sakar Hari in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.

-January 2022: At least 12 people died and more than a dozen were injured in a stampede due to a huge crowd of devotees at the famous Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir.

-14 July 2015: On the first day of the ‘Pushkaram’ festival in Rajmundari in Andhra Pradesh, 27 pilgrims were killed and 20 others were injured when a stampede was carried out at a major bathing site on the banks of the Godavari river.

-October three, 2014: Soon after the Dussehra celebrations ended, 32 people were killed and 26 others were injured due to stampede at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

-13 October 2013: 115 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in a stampede during Navratri festival near Ratangarh temple in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. The stampede started due to the rumor that the river where the devotees were crossing the bridge are about to break.

-19 November 2012: About 20 people were killed and many others were injured in a stampede due to the collapse of a temporary bridge during the Chhath Puja at the court ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Patna.

-November 8, 2011: At least 20 people were killed in a stampede at Har-Ka-Pauri Ghat on the banks of river Ganges in Haridwar.

-14 January 2011: At least 104 devotees of Sabarimala were killed and more than 40 were injured in a stampede due to hitting a jeep pilgrims in Pulmedu in Idukki district of Kerala.

-The March, 2010: About 63 people were killed in a stampede at Ram Janaki temple of Kripalu Maharaj in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. People gathered to get free clothes and food from Swayambhu Baba.

-30 September 2008: Around 250 devotees were killed and more than 60 injured in a stampede due to a bomb blast at Chamunda Devi temple in Jodhpur city of Rajasthan.

-August 2008: 162 people were killed, 47 were injured in a stampede, 47 were injured in a stampede due to rumors of rock slipping at Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh.
