After the stampede on Mauni Amavasya at the Mahakumbh Mela, the locals immediately came forward to help the distressed halls and provided them with food water as well as shelter.
The fair administration and the district administration where the crowd was busy in the crowd after the stampede on Mauni Amavasya, the local people set an example of humanity by helping hungry thirsty and tired devotees to help food offerings, shelter and transport.
Dr. Anjali Kesari told PTI, “In Allahabad, we do not see the devotees of Mahakumbh as an outsider, we are their hosts and they are our guests. In the Chowk, our neighbors together fed food to tired devotees. ”
He said, “Yesterday we distributed tea with 80 liters of milk with breakfast, while others distributed Tehri and lentil rice etc.”
Many hotels in the city provided the place of stay to the devotees. One of these Alok Singh, who runs Hotel Vitthal in Civil Lines, provided free devotees to 100 -bed dormatry.
He said, “After bathing in the Ganges, many devotees get very tired while returning. Helping others is the culture of Prayagraj. The waist fare in the hotel ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000 but this dormator is completely free. ”
Dentist Dr. Krishna Singh, who is running Bhandara till late night for devotees on Harshvardhan Marg of Sector 17 at the fair, said, “We are running Bhandara till late night so that no one is hungry. Bhandara runs from 5 pm to 2 pm here. “
Dr. Mrityunjay Parmar, Assistant Professor in the English Department at Allahabad University, told PTI that after the stampede incident, the university opened its campus and hostels to the devotees so that they could rest there.
He said, “We have many hostels like Shatabdi Hostel, CPUC, PC Banerjee and Sir Sundarlal Hostel where students are helping devotees. At the same time, students of Mahadevi Verma Hostel and Kalpana Chawla Hostel are also contributing. ”
Abhinav Mishra, a final year student of BA LLB, said that he and his classmates are distributing tea, biscuits and breakfast to the devotees.
Mishra said, “Our faculty is near Bank Road from where many devotees pass to reach Prayagraj station. Seeing them upset, we felt that they should help them. “
Yadgare Hussaini Inter College located in the old city also opened its doors for devotees. This college is near bus stand and railway station.
Hasan Naqvi of the college said, “There was an emergency after the stampede. The college management, including manager Gohar Kazmi and spokesperson Raza Abbas, immediately took this decision. We arranged tea breakfast for the devotees and provided them with other facilities. ”
On Wednesday, 30 people died in a stampede at Sangam Noj in the early hours, and 60 people were injured.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, 30 crore devotees have taken bath in the Ganges and Sangam till Thursday.
