Maharashtra: Death toll in Jalgaon train accident rises to 13, Railways announces ex-gratia

Jalgaon District Magistrate Ayush Prasad said on Thursday morning that the death toll in the Jalgaon train accident has increased to 13.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening when passengers of Pushpak Express came out of their coach due to suspicious fire, while at the same time, Karnataka Express was passing on the adjacent track and many people were hit by the moving train.

The injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Jalgaon and are undergoing treatment. Earlier, the Railway Ministry had announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the Jalgaon train accident.

“An ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh each was announced to the next of kin of those killed in the Jalgaon train accident, Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured and Rs 5,000 to those with minor injuries,” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav’s office said in a statement. Is.”

Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Jalgaon SP Maheshwar Reddy said, “12 people have died in the Jalgaon train accident. 10 people are injured. The injured have been admitted to Jalgaon Civil Hospital for treatment. By Railways We will take further action after the report is submitted.”

Jalgaon District Magistrate (DM) Ayush Prasad told ANI, “We received information about the accident after which the administration immediately swung into action and sent ambulances and other aid to the spot. Hospitals were activated. The injured have been admitted to the hospital And their treatment is going on. Post-mortem of the dead is being done.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the tragic train accident in which several people died and many others were injured.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on We are providing all possible assistance to the affected people.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the Jalgaon train accident. The CM said that the state government will also bear all the expenses of the treatment of the injured.
