Amid the ongoing debate on the alleged move by the Maharashtra government to make Hind language compulsory in all classes, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said on Sunday that Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray would oppose “forcibly imposing” this language in the state’s education system.
Raut further said that the government proposal would be burnt publicly. Raut while addressing the media said, “Uddhav and Raj Thackeray will protest against forcibly imposing Hindi in the education of the state. We will burn the government proposal released today with the public … The main event is in Mumbai … Uddhav Thackeray will be present in this program.
Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde targeted the Shiv Sena and accused the party of doing “double” politics. Shinde said that people doing double politics had no right to resign the minister Dada Bhusus.
Shinde said that “The then Chief Minister Maharashtra had made the education of three languages - Marathi, English and Hindi compulsory, which was recommended by Raghunath Mashelkar Committee … When he was in power, his opinion was different and now that he is not in power, he is reacting differently … The people doing double politics have no right to demand the resignation of Dada Bhusi … our government has made Marathi in schools.
Shinde’s remarks have come in response to the criticism of Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, who demanded the resignation of School Education Minister Dada Bhusus on Hindi “imposing” in state schools.
Aditya Thackeray argued that no language should be imposed on the students and doing so will increase the burden on them. He said, “We demand that no language should be forcibly taught. We should continue what we are learning till now. Education should be extended, but no language should be taught forcibly. make better.”
