Mumbai The Election Commission can announce the dates of Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 on Tuesday. Earlier news is coming that the distribution of seats in the grand alliance of BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP has almost been decided. There are 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly and 145 seats are required for majority.
According to media reports, BJP can field its candidates on 150 to 160 seats in Maharashtra. In 2019, BJP had contested elections on 162 seats. Out of which it had won 105 seats. At the same time, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena can be given 90 to 95 seats. The last time Shiv Sena was not divided, it had contested 124 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly and won 56 seats. At the same time, Ajit Pawar’s NCP is expected to be given 40 to 45 seats. In 2019, when there was no split in NCP, it had fielded candidates on 121 seats. Of these, 54 NCP candidates had won.
It is being told that the names of all the candidates will be placed in the BJP’s Central Election Committee meeting in the next one to two days. Then from there the final decision will be taken on the names of BJP candidates. Even before this, the seats to be given to Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP will also be revealed by the Mahayuti alliance. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule have reached Delhi. He is to have a meeting with the central leadership of BJP today. The BJP-led alliance failed to perform well in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections held this year. Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Uddav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT together won more seats than the Mahayuti. This has also affected the seat distribution of Mahayuti. Besides, winning the Maharashtra Assembly elections has also become necessary for the Mahayuti. The reason for this is that there has been a split between Shiv Sena and NCP and the new factions of both have to prove that the public considers them to be the real Shiv Sena and NCP. The victory of these two constituent parties has also become important for BJP. Because Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar have alleged that BJP tried to weaken their parties by sabotaging them.
