A major accident took place on Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Friday morning. A truck filled with chemicals collided with other trucks in Bhankrota area on Ajmer Road, due to which it caught fire and engulfed other vehicles as well. Police gave this information. Police said that some people have been burnt and fire brigade vehicles are trying to control the fire. meanwhileRajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the spot where 4 people died in the massive fire in the morning.
Jaipur Collector Jitendra Soni said, “4 people have died. 40 vehicles are involved (in the incident). Fire department and ambulance vehicles have reached the spot. Relief work is going on. The fire has been largely extinguished. ..23 to 24 people are injured…”.
SMS Medical College Principal Dr Deepak Maheshwari said, “So far four bodies have arrived (at the hospital)… 24 to 25 people are admitted in the ICU. More people are being brought now…”. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reached SMS Hospital to meet the injured in the Jaipur fire and take stock of the situation.
Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar said, “…there are additional 5 beds left vacant in our critical burn ward. Apart from this, we have prepared another room of 40 beds… Our police team, SP, ADM are all active. We have also opened the traffic corridor to come to SMS Hospital… It is a matter of concern that 50% of the 35 injured here are in very serious condition… The Chief Minister took stock of the arrangements with me. Lia…Most of the (injured) people have reached here…The condition of most of the injured people admitted here is very serious.”
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa said, “This is a very sad incident. We all are saddened that 4 to 5 people have died in the incident and about 39 people are admitted in SMS Hospital. The Chief Minister himself went there. Have come and taken stock of all the arrangements… The Medical Minister has also been sent to the spot.
According to preliminary information, the truck was a truck loaded with chemicals, which collided with other trucks. Bhankrota police station in-charge Manish Gupta said, “The fire engulfed many trucks. The number of trucks is not clear yet. Some people have been burnt and have been taken to the hospital via ambulance.
He told that this incident happened in front of the petrol pump and fire brigade vehicles are present at the spot and are trying to control the fire. Gupta said that traffic on the highway has been stopped as a precautionary measure.
