Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee’s government has now clarified after questioning the ban on playing Holi in Sonajuri Haat area in Santiniketan in Birbhum district of West Bengal. Minister of State for Forest and Civil Supplies Birbhh Hansda in Mamta Banerjee’s government has said that we did not ban Holi in Santiniketan. Hansda said that we only urged people to protect the environment. The West Bengal minister said that when people play color, the chemicals present in it can harm trees and plants. Mamta Banerjee’s government minister Birbhah Hansda said that she is pleading with all the people who are politics on this matter and ask that the situation is different everywhere.

The statement about banning Holi in Sonajuri Haat area came from the Forest Department of West Bengal. The forest department official had said that his office will also seek help from the administration and police of Birbhum district to stop playing Holi in Sonjhuri Haat. People were banned from arrival of vehicles here. Holi of Santiniketan is very famous. This is called Doljatra in local language. Sonajuri Haat, located near Santiniketan, is included in the list of World Heritage sites from UNESCO.
