Market. After the Sanjauli Masjid in Shimla, now the issue of illegal construction in the Masjid in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh is also stuck in the court. The Secretary of Town and Country Planning i.e. TCP has put a stay on the decision of the Commissioner Court to demolish the illegal construction in the mosque located on Jail Road, Mandi. TCP will hear the matter next on October 20. On that day, Mandi Municipal Corporation will also keep records and tell whether illegal construction has taken place in the mosque or not. At the same time, Hindu organizations are going to challenge the decision of TCP in Himachal Pradesh High Court.
During the hearing on the issue of illegal construction in Mandi Masjid in TCP, the Muslim side termed the allegations as false. The Muslim side claimed that no illegal construction had been done in the mosque. In the case of Mandi Masjid, the Muslim side claims that when there were heavy rains in the year 2013, the main and major part of the mosque had collapsed. Denying illegal construction in the mosque, the Muslim side argued in the TCP that the same fallen part was rebuilt in 2023. The Muslim side said that the decision of the Mandi Commissioner Court to demolish the alleged illegal construction of the mosque is not right.
Hindu organizations had protested heavily in the city on September 10 this year, alleging illegal construction in the mosque located on Jail Road, Mandi. He had demanded demolition of the illegal construction of the mosque. After the demonstration by Hindu organizations, the Municipal Corporation had declared the structure of the mosque illegal and against the rules of TCP. The Municipal Corporation had asked the committee looking after the mosque to demolish the illegal construction within one month. Along with this, electricity and water connection of the disputed mosque of Mandi was also cut. The Muslim side had appealed against this in TCP.
