Manipur still in pain, political sports continues: Congress

The Congress on Saturday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on the completion of two years of “violence in Manipur” said that this northeastern state is still suffering today but political game is being played instead of finding a meaningful solution.

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the people of Manipur are still waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enter the state. The violence started on 3 May 2023 in Manipur. More than 200 people have been killed in this violence.

Ramesh wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Violence started in Manipur exactly two years ago. In the assembly elections in February 2022, the people of the state gave a decisive mandate to the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and its allies, after which the disaster dominated them. “

He claimed that what started on May 3, 2023, was to derail the so -called ‘double engine’ government in the state.

He said that three months later, the Supreme Court was forced to say that the constitutional system in the state was completely destroyed.

Ramesh said that in view of the no -confidence motion brought by the Congress in the state assembly, the Modi government forced Chief Minister Biren Singh to resign and eventually imposed President’s rule on 13 February 2025.

He said, “Manipur is still going through pain. Political sports are being played. There is no meaningful solution process. Internal displaced more than 60,000 people are living in relief camps in the event of heavy stress.

The Congress leader said, “The most important thing is that Prime Minister has been continuously escaping from Manipur. He has not met any person in the state. He has roamed all over the world but he got time to visit the endangered state and reach the people there, nor he has an inclination nor sensitivity.”
