Imphal. Now killing of migrants has also started in Manipur. The matter is of Kakching area of Manipur. Here, Dashrath Kumar and Sunelal Kumar, natives of Rajwahi village in Gopalganj district of Bihar, were shot dead by unknown people. Dashrath Kumar was 17 years old and Sunelal Kumar was 18 years old. Both lived in Meitei dominated area of Kakching district. According to the information, unknown people took his life on Saturday. It is believed that militants active in the area are involved in this. At the same time, in Manipur, security forces also killed a militant in Salungpham Maning Lekai of Thoubal district. There was an encounter here between the militants and the commando squad of Manipur Police. The slain militant has been identified as Laishram Priyam.
According to Laishram Priyam’s mother, her 16-year-old son had left home three months ago to protect the village from Kuki militants. Laishram’s mother told that her son was about to appear for the high school examination. According to Manipur Police, 3 INSAS rifles, 1 SLR rifle, 1 .303 rifle, 1 other rifle, magazine and ammunition have been recovered from the site of encounter with militants. Manipur Police commandos have also recovered a vehicle from here. Manipur Police is rapidly searching for other militants who fled from the spot. Continuous incidents of violence are taking place in Manipur since May 2023. Here Meitei and Kuki communities are in conflict with each other.
To stop violence in Manipur, the central government has deployed thousands of central security forces. More than 4000 soldiers have been sent to Manipur only yesterday. Since then, incidents of violence have largely stopped, but now after the murder of two youth of Bihar, the atmosphere seems to be heating up once again. Till now no migrant has been targeted by the Meitei and Kuki sides in the violence in Manipur. After this incident, the issue of safety of migrants living in Manipur has also become important.
