New Delhi. The Mathura Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah case will now be heard in the Supreme Court on December 9. The Muslim side has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court’s decision to accept 18 petitions filed by the Hindu side as hearable. The Muslim side says that the petitions of the Hindu side are not worth hearing and hence they should be rejected. The Supreme Court did not hear this matter today and gave the next date. The court said that the hearing will be held after considering whether an appeal against the decision of the single bench of the High Court is possible in a larger bench of the High Court or not.
A bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar said that we will hear it in detail. We have to decide what the legal position is. Let us tell you that on October 23 last month, the single bench of Justice Mayank Kumar Jain of Allahabad High Court had rejected the recall petition filed by the Muslim side. In this case, the Muslim side is continuously getting blow after blow from the court. Earlier, on August 1, Allahabad High Court had also rejected the petition of the Muslim side. Allahabad High Court had said in its order that all the 18 petitions filed by the Hindu side will be heard together.
Let us tell you that the Hindu side has demanded that the Shahi Idgah Mosque be handed over to the Hindus, calling it the birthplace of Shri Krishna. According to the Hindu side, the entire two and a half acre area of Idgah is the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Shri Krishna. The mosque was constructed illegally after demolishing the temple. At the same time, the Muslim side says that there was an agreement between the two parties regarding the disputed land in 1968, hence it is not right to question the agreement now after 60 years.
