Mauritius has announced that its national flag will be flown at half mast in all government offices and institutions till sunset on Saturday in honor of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
In a release, the office of Mauritius Prime Minister Naveen Ramgoolam also urged the private sector to fly the flag at half-mast.
Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful came to Delhi and paid tribute to the former Prime Minister.
The Mauritius Prime Minister’s Office said, “Following the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of India, the public is informed that the flag of Mauritius will be flown at half mast on all government buildings till sunset today, Saturday, the day of his funeral.” Will remain.”
“The private sector is also appealed to ensure that all flags remain at half mast,” the release said.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, known as the father of economic reforms in India, died on Thursday. He was 92 years old. Singh also served as the Finance Minister of the country.
India’s relations with several major countries, including Mauritius, improved significantly during Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister.
Singh’s last rites were performed with full state honors at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi on Saturday.
President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and many other personalities bid farewell to Singh.
