The sensational honeymoon murder in Meghalaya revealed a big revelation on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The main accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and his alleged lover Raj Kushwaha confessed their relationship in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. According to the Meghalaya Police, the two not only confirmed their love affair, but also rebuilt the crime scene for the conspiracy to murder.
Sonam and Raja were married on 11 May 2025 in Indore. The couple, who reached Meghalaya for honeymoon on 20 May, was not found in Sohra (Cherrapunji) on 23 May. On June 2, the king’s body was recovered from a deep ditch. On June 8, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while Raj and three others – Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi – were arrested. The police arrested three more people – Lokendra Singh Tomar, Silom James, and Ballu Ahirwar – on charges of destroying the evidence.
According to the police, Sonam’s family opposed her relationship with Raj and decided to marry Raja. Angry Sonam threatened the family serious consequences. Superintendent of Police (East Khasi Hills) Vivek Siem said that the murder conspiracy was hatched in Indore 11 days before the wedding. Raj hired three killers, who in the fourth attempt threw the king into a ditch near Nogriyat village.
Sonam saved Raj’s number in the name of “Sanjay Verma” and made 234 calls in 39 days. A YouTuber’s video found the last footage of Sonam and Raja a few hours before the murder, with Sonam in a white T-shirt, which was later found near the Crime Scene. The police turned down the demand for the Raja’s family’s narco test, as there is enough evidence.
