New Delhi. The hooliganism of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in the name of Marathi has once again come to light. A Rajasthani shopkeeper in Vikhroli area of Mumbai was beaten up by MNS workers due to his WhatsApp status, rolling him on the road publicly, joining hands and grabbed his ear and apologized to him. The shopkeeper’s fault was just that he was putting up a status in his WhatsApp that, ‘I saw Rajasthani’s Pawar, we Marwari, no one would walk in front of us.’ MNS workers described this status as an insult to Marathi language and Marathas.

MNS workers also made a video of the shopkeeper beating and apologizing from him. Taking him in the market, he said that whoever insults Marathi will be such a treat with him. This is not the first incident of Marinath by MNS workers, recently a shopkeeper was beaten for not speaking Marathi on Meera Road. Apart from that, many such cases have also come up. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had responded to the incident of Meera Road, saying that hooliganism would not be tolerated in the name of Marathi. CM had said that we are proud of Marathi but no language of India can be insulted.

Despite this ultimatum of CM, the hooliganism of MNS workers continues. Sushil Kedia, a businessman and investor living in Mumbai to protest against the assault from Meera Road shopkeeper, posted Raj Thackeray on social media, even after 30 years in Mumbai I do not know Marathi properly and I will not learn Marathi. After this, MNS workers had pelted and vandalized at their office in Worli on 5 July. However, after this Sushil Kedia came on the backfoot and he apologized to Raj Thackeray through social media.
