Modi government’s preparation on census and one country one election.
In the recently held Lok Sabha elections 2024, the BJP has got much fewer seats than in 2014 and 2019 and the party has remained far from the majority. However, according to top sources, despite fewer seats, the BJP-led government will continue to work on the agenda that was promised in 2014. Now news has come that the Modi government may soon start the census across the country. Along with this, a big update has also come from the top sources of the party regarding One Nation One Election.
What is the update on one country one election?
The Modi government has fulfilled the major issues of its manifesto such as construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act. At the same time, the promise of one nation-one election is another big promise in the election manifesto of BJP. Prime Minister Modi also advocated holding assembly and parliamentary elections together in his speech from the Red Fort on Independence Day.
Big decision in this term
ANI quoted sources as saying that the NDA government is committed to holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections together. Sources also said that One Nation One Election will become a reality during this term of the government. BJP is also hoping to garner support from other political parties.
Administrative work for census continues
ANI has informed quoting sources that administrative work is going on to conduct the long-pending nationwide census. However, no decision has been taken yet on whether the caste column will be included in the census process or not. Let us tell you that opposition parties like Congress, RJD and SP and some allies of the NDA alliance are also loudly demanding a caste census.
