Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus during the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok. This was his first face-to-face meeting after the collapse of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi is in Bangkok for the sixth BIMSTEC summit, where he was welcomed by Thai Prime Minister Partangatar Shinavatra at the Government House. The leaders also kept a minute’s silence for the earthquake victims in Myanmar and Thailand on 28 March.
In a post on X, he said, “With fellow BIMSTEC leaders at the summit held in Bangkok, Thailand. We confirm our commitment to increase cooperation in various fields. Our efforts brought positive changes in people’s lives.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi met Senior General Ang Having of Myanmar and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I met Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Having during the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok. Once again, the recent earthquake expressed condolences on the loss of life and property. India is making every effort to help its sisters and brothers in this important time. Ki, especially in connectivity, capacity building, development of infrastructure and other areas. “
Prime Minister Modi and his Thailand’s counterpart Petagarn Shinavatra held bilateral talks on Thursday. He discussed political exchange, defense and safety partnership and methods to strengthen strategic participation between the two countries.
He also emphasized the need to increase connectivity, health, science and technology, start-up, innovation, digital, education, culture and tourism cooperation.
The sixth BIMSTEC summit is going to be held on Friday, which will mark a significant regional partnership between India and its neighboring countries in the Bays of Bengal (BIMSTEC) group for multi -sector technical and economic cooperation.
