Monsoon havoc continues in Himachal Pradesh, 91 people died in last 21 days

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), at least 91 people have lost their lives during the monsoon season running since June 20, out of which 55 deaths were due to rain -related disasters such as floods, landslides, electricity and cloudburst and 36 deaths occurred in road accidents.

By July 10, 2025, the cumulative damage report of SDMA exposes a serious picture of destruction, injuring 364 people, 131 people missing, and an estimated loss of more than Rs 749.97 crore to public and private property has been recorded. SDMA said, “From June 20 to July 10, there have been a total of 91 deaths during the monsoon period from 20 June to 10 July. She happened. “

More than 752 houses and 880 cowsheds across the state were either damaged or destroyed. The SDMA said that in collaboration with NDRF, SDRF and local agencies, especially in Kullu, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti, several rescue operations are going on. Relief camps have been set up in severely affected areas and the process of paying grace amount is going on.

So far, 31 floods, 22 cloudbursts and 17 landslides have been caused by the monsoon, causing a strict examination of the state’s disaster response machinery. Apart from this, 36 people lost their lives in road accidents during the rainy season. Solan (6 deaths), Kullu (7), Chamba (6) and Bilaspur (3) were the most affected districts in this category.

The SDMA warned, “Driving vehicles due to mountainous terrain, slippery roads and falling stones has become especially dangerous.” The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for several districts for the next few days, which is expected to continue moderate to heavy rains. ,
