Kochi: A senior officer of the Central Excise and Customs Department, the police team investigating the death of his mother and sister in mysterious circumstances has intensified its investigation to find out the exact cause of his death. The deceased have been identified as the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official and Additional Commissioner Manish Vijay (43) in the Central Excise and Customs Department in Kochi, his sister Shalini Vijay and his mother Shakuntala Aggarwal. This family is originally from Jharkhand.
Manish’s sister Shalini got summons
Police sources said Manish’s sister Shalini had recently received a summons from the court, in which she was directed to appear in a court in Jharkhand on 15 February in connection with a case investigated by the CBI. She was accused in the case related to irregularities in her appointment in the service of the Government of Jharkhand. The bodies of Manish and Shalini were found hanging from the noose, while Shakuntala was found dead on her bed. Shakuntala’s body was wrapped in a white cloth and flowers were put on it.
According to the police, the initial investigation shows that the brother and sister have committed suicide. However, a senior official said that the exact cause of his mother’s death would be known only after the post -mortem. Police have come to know that Manish bought flowers on 14 February. The official said that the police also found an entry of February 15 in Manish’s diary, which was instructed that some documents should be handed over to his younger sister who is currently in Dubai. Police said his younger sister is expected to reach Kochi on Saturday, after which the body will be tested. Although investigators are investigating all aspects, they have not yet been able to establish any direct connection between deaths and the case.
An official said, “If the mother’s death is found to be natural, then the suicide of siblings can be due to sorrow. Currently, our focus is on confirmation of the cause of death through autopsy. The officers were on leave for a few days, but when they did not return to work, their colleagues reached his house on Thursday night. When he looked through the open window, a body was hanging from the open window. After this, the police was immediately informed and after entering the house, they found two more bodies.
