An attacker entered the house of actor Saif Ali Khan in Mumbai late on Wednesday night and attacked him with a knife during an alleged theft attempt, injuring him. Representatives of Khan, 54, said he was taken to Lilavati Hospital for treatment, where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.
The attacker fled from the spot after the incident which took place at around 2.30 am in Khan’s house located on the 12th floor of Satguru Sharan building in Bandra area. The actor’s representatives described the incident as an ‘attempted theft’, although police have yet to comment.
A senior police officer said that at present no one has been arrested in the case. Khan’s team said in a statement that the actor has undergone surgery and is now out of danger. “His condition is currently improving and doctors are monitoring his health progress,” the statement said. All their family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident.
The actor’s team expressed gratitude to Dr. Neeraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Leena Jain and the team of Lilavati Hospital. The team said, “Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for praying for him in this difficult time.” Earlier, COO of Lilavati Hospital, Dr. Neeraj Uttamani told PTI, “Saif was stabbed six times. Attacks were made. He has two deep wounds, one of which is near his spinal cord.
