2 vehicles were set on fire during the first demonstration in Murshidabad against the Waqf Act. Even at that time, the police were targeted by the miscreants. After passing the Parliament, the new Waqf Act has been implemented by the Central Government from 8 April 2025. All Muslim organizations and their leaders are opposing the Waqf Act. They allege that the Modi government wants to capture the property of Muslims through the Waqf Act. They are also opposing the placement of non -Muslims in Waqf boards and Waqf Council. Opponents have also filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Act. The Supreme Court will hear this petition on 16 April.
