According to reports, the miscreants opened fire on BSF personnel in Dhulian, Murshidabad. 2 children were reported injured in this firing. Apart from this, unconfirmed news of arson has also been received in two shops. A large number of police have been deployed in the area. Apart from this, in addition to 300 BSF personnel already deployed, 5 more companies have also been deployed. West Bengal DGP Rajiv Kumar arrived in Murshidabad on Sunday morning and went to the violence affected areas besides a meeting with police officers. The police have also arrested 150 miscreants in connection with violence.
In Murshidabad on Friday afternoon, the mob blocked the National Highway shouting slogans against the Waqf Act. The police tried to open it. After which the violence started. All the shops and houses in Sati, Shamsherganj were targeted by the miscreants. There were incidents of violence in Dhulian and Lalgola. The miscreants also burnt all the vehicles including police vehicles. During the violence, the father and son were also stabbed by stabbing. 10 policemen were also injured in violence. Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Shubhendu Adhikari, posted on X and claimed that more than 400 Hindus have migrated from Dhulian after the violence.

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee issued a statement on Saturday after incidents of violence in all areas of Murshidabad. Mamta Banerjee wrote in the post on X that the Waqf Act has passed by the Central Government. In such a situation, answers should be sought from the central government itself. Mamta Banerjee also wrote that her government will not allow the new Waqf Act to be implemented in the state. He appealed to the public to maintain peace. At the same time, the Calcutta High Court had ordered a central force on the application of Shubhendu Adhikari in the area. After which the West Bengal government demanded them from the Center. The Union Home Secretary has offered to provide more help if needed to the Home Secretary and DGP of West Bengal.
