New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 44 development projects worth Rs 3884.18 crore in Varanasi today. On reaching Kashi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the PM. Addressing the gathering, Modi said, I am a debtor of Kashi’s love. Kashi is mine and I belong to Kashi. Modi said, what Kashi has easyness is also easy to the soul of India. We have to keep empowering Kashi continuously. We have to keep Kashi beautiful and dream. The ancient soul of Kashi is to be connected to the modern body.

The PM said, imagine, if the condition of Kashi, the rail and airport here had been the same as 10 years ago, then how bad the condition of Kashi would have been. Earlier, there was a jam during small festivals. Now the construction of Phulwaria flyover has reduced the way, saves time and life has become more comfortable. Similarly, earlier people from rural areas of Jaunpur and Ghazipur had to pass through the city of Varanasi to visit the airport and people from Ballia, Mau and Ghazipur districts. He was stuck in traffic for hours, but now people can reach from one end to the other in a few minutes due to the ring road.

Modi said, we all know the concern of the elders of the house. We also know the problems that were there about treatment in the entire Purvanchal 10-11 years ago. Today conditions are completely different. My Kashi is now becoming the capital of health. Big hospitals in Delhi, Mumbai have now come near your house today. This is the development when facilities come to the people. The PM said, some time ago I got an opportunity to hand over Ayushman Vy Vandana card to many elderly colleagues here. I saw the feeling of satisfaction on his face. For me, he is the biggest success of this scheme.

The Prime Minister said, it was my guarantee that the elderly will get free treatment. The result of that promise is Ayushman Vy Vandana Yojana. This plan is not only for medical care of our senior citizens, but also for their dignity. Now, elderly members of every family over 70 years of age, irrespective of their income, are entitled to free treatment. In Varanasi alone, about 50,000 Vyndana cards have already reached the elderly.

Modi spoke to youth, start preparations for Olympics

Narendra Modi said, our government also has full attention that the youth of Kashi should get continuous opportunities to move forward in sports. Now, when we are working towards hosting the Olympics in India in 2036, it is time for my youth of Kashi that if we want to win medals in the Olympics, we should start preparing now.

The Prime Minister said, more than thirty products from Varanasi and its surrounding districts have received GI tags. Today, many other regional products have been provided with GI tag which includes Imarti of Jaunpur, Sanjhi Kala of Mathura, Kathia wheat of Bundelkhand, Pilibhit’s flute, Prayagraj’s Munj Shilp, Bareilly’s Zardozi Embroidery, Chitrakoot’s Cast Kala, Lakhimpur Kheri’s Dhari Zardji.
