Nashik. There was a ruckus during an attempt to demolish an illegal dargah on Tuesday night in Dwarka area of Nashik, Maharashtra. When the dargah was being demolished, there was a power failure in the area. Under its guise, the mob threw stones at Nashik Municipal Corporation employees and police. 4 officers and 11 policemen of Nashik Municipal Corporation were injured in this stone pelting. 5 vehicles were also damaged in the violence by the crowd. The Nashik Municipal Corporation issued a notice on 1 April, calling the dargah illegal and gave it to those who took care of themselves in 15 days. When he did not remove the dargah, Nashik Municipal Corporation employees went to demolish it with the help of the police.

According to Nashik police, during the demolition of the dargah, the crowd gathered at midnight on Tuesday midnight and started violence. The reason for this was a rumor. According to the police, more than 400 people gathered on the spot. There were 500 police personnel on the spot, but the mob started throwing stones. After this, to control the situation, the police had to fract tear gas shells and run sticks. At present, a large number of police are deployed on the spot. Police are looking for the accused of stone pelting and violence. Earlier on 22 February 2025, Nashik Municipal Corporation removed several illegal religious places. A court had also ruled that the dargah is illegal and should be removed.
On the order of the court, the Nashik Municipal Corporation team went to remove the dargah. In February, the Gross Hindu Samaj Sangathan demanded to demolish the dargah and build a Hanuman temple instead. The organization also planned a major protest on 22 February. The police then imposed curfew in fear of violence. Apart from this, many leaders of Hindu organization were also detained.
