An Indian Navy employee has been arrested on Thursday, 26 June 2025 on charges of espionage. Vishal Yadav, who was posted as Additional Division Clerk (UDC) at Navy Headquarters, Delhi, alleged that he leaked sensitive defense information related to Operation Sindoor to Pakistan. This information was related to the military attacks carried out by India on 7 May 2025 in response to Pahalgam terror attack (death of 26 people).
According to the police, Vishal hails from Rewari, Haryana and was arrested from Jaipur. He gave information to a Pakistani handler who was allegedly presenting herself as an Indian woman ‘Priya Sharma’. In return, he received around Rs 2 lakh, out of which 50,000 rupees were for information about operation vermilion. Cryptocurrency was also used in payment.
Inspector General of Police (CID-Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said that Vishal’s online gaming was implicated in this trap. Intelligence agencies had monitored her activities for two years, and were detained after confirming her contact on social media. He was in touch with the handler through Telegram. Now he is being jointly questioned by many agencies.
The case has questioned the Navy’s security system, and Gupta said that Pakistani intelligence agencies are trying to get information in a complex manner.
