Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that all security forces and agencies should make joint efforts to completely eliminate Left Wing Extremism by March 2026.
Shah on Monday chaired a review meeting to assess the situation of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Chhattisgarh, saying the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will play a very important role in this effort.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Chhattisgarh and Director General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were present in the meeting, an official release said.
During the meeting, Shah asked all forces and agencies to make joint efforts to achieve the goal of complete eradication of Left Wing Extremism by March 2026.
The statement quoted Shah as saying that Chhattisgarh Police and other security forces have done a very good job in a coordinated manner in the fight against Naxalism and have caused maximum damage to the Naxalites in the last one year, which is a major success.
“We still have a lot to do to eliminate Naxalism before March 2026. The National Investigation Agency will play a very important role in this effort,” Shah said.
The Union Minister expressed confidence that Naxalism will be eliminated before March 2026. He said that CRPF, ITBP, BSF, Chhattisgarh Police and District Reserve Guard (DRG) together have moved towards achieving a huge target in a year.
Earlier in the day, he visited the Gundam Forward Operating Base of the security forces in Bijapur district and reviewed operational preparedness, the release said.
