New Delhi. Nehal Modi, brother of Nirav Modi, accused of PNB scam, has been arrested by the Department of Justice in America. Nirav Modi’s brother Nehal was arrested by the US Department of Justice on Friday at the CBI request of the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED and PNB scam. India has made a formal request for Nehal Modi’s extradition to the US. According to the information, the proceedings to extradite Nehal Modi to India have also started. Nirav Modi is already facing extradition proceedings in Britain. At the same time, Nirav Modi’s maternal uncle Mehul Choksi was arrested a few days ago in Belgium.
Nehal Modi is accused of helping Nirav Modi and hid illegal earnings of crores. He has been accused of eradicating evidence of PNB scam. Nehal Modi is also accused of moving this earnings in shell companies and foreign transactions. The ED has made Nehal Modi a co -accused in the Nirav Modi case. In 2019, Interpol issued a red corner notice against Nehal Modi on the insistence of CBI. Interpol’s red corner notice has also been issued against another brother Nishal Modi of Nirav Modi. The date of hearing of Nehal Modi’s extradition of India has been fixed on 17 July. He is originally a resident of Belgium.

Nehal Modi is expected to apply for bail at the next hearing. However, the US Department of Justice will oppose his bail application. After Nehal Modi was handed over to India, the PNB scam and layers are expected to open. Nirav Modi started taking loans from PNB for the work of diamond business. In this sequence, a scam of Rs 14000 crore was done from PNB. Nirav Modi’s maternal uncle Mehul Choksi is also one of the accused in the PNB scam.
