New Delhi. Several important decisions have been taken after the death of 18 passengers in the stampede on Saturday night at New Delhi railway station in the capital. Under these decisions, the sale of platform tickets at New Delhi railway station has been stopped by 26 February. Also, it has been decided to run all the trains going to Prayagraj from platform number 16 itself. Railways had already formed a committee of 2 members to check the stampede at New Delhi railway station. The report of this committee is expected to come today or tomorrow. The committee will tell that due to what caused a stampede at New Delhi railway station and whether any railway employee is guilty in this.
Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway claimed that neither a train was delayed or canceled nor the platform of any train was changed on the night of the stampede. At the same time, the Delhi Police had said after a preliminary investigation into the stampede that the announcement of two trains called two trains caused confusion among the passengers and caused a stampede due to the disaster of reaching the platform. Whereas, several passengers had alleged that the change of train platform was announced at New Delhi station.
The situation is now under control at New Delhi railway station. A large number of RPF has been deployed here. Whereas, Delhi Police has also deployed its 6 officers at New Delhi railway station to control the passengers. Earlier, the railway has been stopping the sale of platform tickets at all stations in the capital including New Delhi railway station during Chhath Puja. The reason for this is earlier accidents. It is also reported that Sangam station in Prayagraj has also been closed by the Railways till 28 February. Prayagraj and other nearby stations are open. Also, seeing the crowd of passengers, more trains are being run for Prayagraj.
