Amidst the ongoing struggle between Israel and Iran, an aircraft reached Delhi with 110 Indian citizens evacuated from Iran under Operation Indus. In such a situation, students extracted from Iran’s Uria thanked the Government of India.
A student fired said that Indian officials have done a good job and all the students are being fired. He said that the situation in Iran, especially Tehran, is getting worse day by day.
The student told reporters, “The situation there is getting worse day by day. The situation in Tehran is especially bad. All Indian students are being evacuated from there. We are from Urmia University. Indian officials are doing good work. All students are being evacuated and being taken to a safe place.”
He said, “We were expelled from our university to Armenia, after which we were taken to Qatar. We reached India from Qatar.”
Ghazal, a student from Iran, told ANI, “We are all very happy that we returned home and the Indian embassy removed us properly. We are very grateful to him. Urmia, where we lived, the situation was much better than Tehran.”
Recalling the magnitude of the struggle, Indian citizen Yasir Ghaffar, who was expelled from Iran, said that he saw the missiles passing and heard loud sounds at night.
He said, “We saw missiles passing and heard loud sounds at night. I am happy to reach India. I have not left my dreams … When the situation improves, we will return to Iran.”
A student withdrawn said, “I am happy that I have come back to my country. We have not seen any such thing in Uromia, but the situation was bad at other places in Iran. The Indian government helped a lot, that is why we are back home.”
The student Maryam Rose, who was taken out from there, said that the Indian embassy had prepared for everything and she did not face any problem.
Maryam told ANI, “The Indian Embassy had already prepared everything for us. We did not face any kind of trouble. We are traveling for three days, so we are tired … When we came out, the situation in Urmia was not so bad. We were looking at the missiles from our hostel windows.”
Another student said, “I am a MBBS final year student at Urmia University. We saw drones and missiles. We were scared … We are happy to return to India and are very grateful to the Government of India, especially the Ministry of External Affairs. Our parents were also worried, but now they are happy.”
Student Aman Azhar criticized the war and said that the children are suffering.
He told ANI, “I am very happy. I can’t say how happy I am meeting with my family. The situation in Iran is very bad. The people there are also like us; there are small children who are in trouble. The war is not a good thing. It ends humanity …”
The parents of the extracted students also expressed happiness and thanked the Government of India.
The mother of the student who was taken out of Iran said, “I am very happy that my daughter has returned home. I want everyone to come back. The Indian government has managed everything so well that our children have no problem anywhere.”
Talking to ANI, the father of the student who was fired said, “My son is returning from the special aircraft sent from India to Armenia. My son was doing MBBS in Iran. I have come to pick him up from the quota of Rajasthan. I am happy that my son is returning home. The Indian government has made good efforts.”
In view of the deteriorating situation as a result of the ongoing struggle between Iran and Israel, the Government of India has started Operation Indus to evacuate Indian citizens from Iran.
In a post on X, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote, “India started Operation Sindhu to remove Indian citizens from Iran. India took out 110 students from North Iran under the supervision of our missions in Iran and Armenia on 17 June, who entered Armenia. They will depart from a special flight from Jerevan and will reach New Delhi on the morning of 19 June 2025. Gives the top priority. “
