The hearing of the Sanjauli Masjid case will now take place next month.
Shimla: A hearing was held in the court of Municipal Corporation Commissioner (MC) Sunil Atri in the case of Sanjauli Mosque dispute in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. In this hearing, Commissioner Sunil Atri reprimanded the concerned JE in this matter and fixed the next hearing on October 5. In this case, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sunil Atri has directed the Waqf Board and JE to file a status report. Apart from this, an application has also been given in the court by the residents of Sanjauli to become a party in the case.
‘Himachal Pradesh government is the owner of that land’
Advocate of Sanjauli local resident (Hindu organization) said, ‘The land on which the mosque is built is government land. According to the records, Himachal Pradesh government is the owner of that land. Today, after 14 years, the common people here have been forced to become a party in this case. Somebody had illegally constructed on this land. After which the Waqf Board disappeared for 13.5 years. After 13.5 years, suddenly the Waqf Board says that this mosque is theirs. On this, the court asked them for documents which they could not show.’
‘We have only talked about illegal construction’
He said, ‘According to our papers, the mosque on Khasra number 36 in that Jamabandi is illegal. Here it means that this mosque has been built on government land. I do not talk about any community. I am a lawyer, all religions are equal for me. We have not used the words Hindu and Muslim anywhere in our 20-page application. We have only talked about illegal construction. According to the rules, whoever owns it, it should be demolished.’
‘The Waqf Board has submitted its papers today’
On this case, Waqf Board’s lawyer Bhoop Singh Thakur said that whatever JE will give the report, I will examine it and file my reply. Waqf Board’s State Officer Qutubdin said that he has filed his reply on Saturday, which the court had asked from him. Meanwhile, former head of the mosque Mohammad Latif said that the Waqf Board has submitted its papers today, I got the notice yesterday so I have come today.
‘If the map was not approved, how did so many floors get built?’
Mohammad Latif said that he himself told that the map of the building was not approved. When he was asked that you were the Pradhan, and the map was not approved then how did so many floors get built, he gave a surprising answer and said that when no one stopped you, you built it. Let us tell you that during the hearing, the court spoke strictly to the Waqf Board and said that when your map was not approved then how did so many floors get built. (Input: IANS)
