New Delhi: Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) has hit back at the statement of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh had advised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to separate from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). On this, JDU hit back at Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav and targeted him on the issue of nepotism. JD (U) said that if Akhilesh Yadav had adopted even a little bit of the life values adopted by socialist thinker Jayaprakash Narayan, then the Samajwadi Party would not have been completely dominated by ‘one family’.

Urge to withdraw support from NDA government

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had accused ‘socialists’ of stopping him from paying tribute to Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary in Lucknow and urged the Bihar Chief Minister to withdraw support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA government. Yadav had reached the Jaiprakash Narayan International Center (JPNIC) on Thursday night and criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government for blocking the main gate with tin sheets to prevent entry.

He said that there are a lot of ‘socialist’ people, who are part of the government and are involved in running the system. Yadav said, “Bihar Chief Minister (Nitish Kumar) also keeps talking about Jayprakash Narayan ji from time to time, in fact he has emerged (as a politician) from the JP movement itself. This is an opportunity to withdraw support from the government which is preventing socialists from remembering Jayaprakash on his birth anniversary.”

Akhilesh’s comment ‘surprising’

JD (U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad termed Akhilesh Yadav’s comment as ‘surprising’ and advised that he should not limit himself to just paying tribute to Lok Nayak. He said in a statement, “Jayaprakash Narayan struggled all his life for the values of life. He gave the concept of total revolution. If Akhilesh Yadav had given priority to those life values even just a little bit, which he called for regarding familyism, dynasticism and change in the system, then the complete dominance of one family over the Samajwadi Party would not have been visible.

Allegation of ‘narrow politics’

Rajiv Ranjan Prasad accused Akhilesh Yadav of doing ‘narrow politics’ on the day of JP’s birth anniversary and said that as far as stopping the tribute was concerned, he should have chosen the birth anniversary day instead of midnight. He said, “Whenever any day is organized in the memory of such great men, the public does not like such narrow politics.”
