To improve energy efficiency in the country, the ‘Default’ of the Air Conditioner (AC) is preparing the Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE) framework to standardize the temperature between 20 and 28 ° C.
The BEE under the Ministry of Electricity promotes the use of energy-efficient processes, equipment and systems.
Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the government will make it mandatory to keep the AC temperature between 20 and 28 ° C in all areas between rising temperature and increasing use of cooling machines like AC due to climate change. The purpose of this exercise is to bring more efficiency in cooling and to reduce the power bill along with controlling the possible increasing demand for electricity.
This means that if the new rules are implemented, then you will have to run the AC at 18 or 16 ° C at a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the maximum temperature of AC can go up to 30 degrees and after the new rule it will be limited to 28 degrees.
According to the 2020 order of the Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE), the default temperature for all rooms and cars should be set to 24 ° C, which is applied to the types of all brands and star-labeled ACs, but user keeps it from 24 to 25 ° C in commercial buildings to energy efficiency and rest.
Khattar told reporters, ‘We have decided the minimum temperature of AC will be 20 ° degree and the maximum temperature will be determined by 28 ° ° C, so that uniformity in the use of Air C can be brought and helping to reduce excessive power consumption caused by extremely low settings.’ It is worth mentioning that currently the concerned ministries, manufacturers and vehicle industries are continuing. Guidelines will be issued after the completion of consultation and then they will be implemented.
