Now passengers will be able to travel by Namo Bharat train till Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off from Anand Vihar station on 29th December.

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to flag off the high-speed rapid train ‘Namo Bharat’ running from Sahibabad to Anand Vihar station on Sunday. Keeping this occasion in mind, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Ghaziabad. As part of preparations for the event, Ghaziabad Police has declared eight police station areas – Kotwali, Madhuban Bapudham, Nandgram, Link Road, Sahibabad, Indirapuram, Sihani Gate and Kaushambi as drone-free zones. Flying drones has been completely banned in these areas. Keeping security in mind, the authorities have invoked Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, under which steps are taken to maintain law and order by issuing immediate orders.

The Police Commissioner said, “Security has been tightened during the Prime Minister’s visit. Along with this, a diversion plan will be issued soon to ensure smooth traffic flow.”

Specialty of high-speed rapid train ‘Namo Bharat’

NaMo Bharat Train is part of India’s future regional rapid transit system. This train is equipped with high-speed connectivity, smart ticketing, comfortable seating and advanced safety features. It aims to provide a seamless and faster travel experience to passengers while reducing traffic congestion and pollution in urban areas.

This high-speed rapid train will run on the 82 kilometer long route between Delhi and Meerut. The Rs 30,274 crore project stretches from Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut’s Modipuram. At present, the journey between Delhi and Meerut takes one and a half hours in Mail Express and two hours in local train. Whereas in RRTS this journey can be completed in just 55-60 minutes.

Inauguration of the first phase and history of the project

Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone of this project on March 8, 2019. The first 17 km priority section of the project was commissioned on October 20, 2023 between Sahibabad and Duhai depots. Presently Namo Bharat services are operating on a 42 km corridor of nine stations namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South.
