The premium cherry of Jammu and Kashmir is now making a splash in the foreign markets. Recently, a consignment of premium cherry of Kashmir has been sent to Saudi Arabia and UAE. With this, the gardeners of Kashmir are expected to get a better price and a big market. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal wrote on X that a big market has opened for our cherry farmers and they will now get a better price for their produce.
Let us tell you that the consignment of Cherry was sent to Mumbai from Jammu-Katra via Indian Railway parcel van. Cherry was brought to Katra railway station through trucks from Kashmir. Then the fruit was sent to Bandra through the parcel from here. In this first batch 24 tonnes of cherry has been sent to Bandra. Earlier, Cherry used to reach various markets of the country by road.
This not only affected the quality of the product, but was also financially expensive. This is considered an important step towards promoting export of agricultural products, which will also provide international platform to other Kashmiri products like apples, saffron and walnuts in the coming time.
