Kesco has made major changes to improve the electricity billing of its consumers. Now, bills will be prepared on the basis of electricity units on the 30th or 31st of every month, and this bill will be prepared according to the consumption till 12 midnight. Earlier, the meter reader used to prepare the bill for the day he came, due to which consumers used to complain about getting high bills.
New steps to improve billing
Kesco has improved the billing system keeping in mind the complaints of consumers. Now the meter reader will not generate the bill without visiting the house, and at the beginning of every month consumers will get the message of their bill on their mobile. At present, this facility is available only to those 1.52 lakh consumers who have smart meters installed in their homes.
Fixed charge issue resolved
Earlier, when the bill was generated for 35 to 40 days, consumers had to pay fixed charge for two months, which increased their bill. But in the new system, now only one month’s fixed charge will have to be deposited.
Launch of 4G smart meter
Kesco will start installing 4G smart meters in the homes of its remaining six lakh consumers from September 15. At present, smart meters have been installed in the homes of 1.52 lakh consumers. The meters about which complaints have been received will also be replaced and no charge will be taken from the consumers for this.
