The state government has taken strict action after a brutal incident of ragging at Kottayam Government Nursing College, Kerala. Due to this incident, the principal of the college Sulekha A.T. And Assistant Professor Ajesh P. Mani was suspended. The Ministry of Health announced this suspension late on Friday night.
The official statement issued from the Health Minister’s office said that the principal and assistant professor failed to stop ragging, due to which he has been suspended till the investigation is completed. Apart from this, the hostel housekeeper-cum-security personnel were also removed with immediate effect.
Five students involved in this horrific incident – Samuel Johnson, Rahul Raj, Jeeva, Rijil Jeet and Vivek – were arrested. All these were booked under the Ragging Prohibition Act and are currently lodged in the district jail.

On Thursday, a junior student was brutally tortured in the hostel of Kottayam Government Nursing College boys. The student was tied to the cot. His body was repeatedly pierced from the compass. He was treated inhumanely by half -hearted. After the incident was exposed, outrage spread across the state. People were demanding action against college administration and guilty students.
