A Kashmiri ‘Charani’ or woodcutter has been detained in the case of an ax wave in front of a policeman on asking to register in Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Officials gave this information on Thursday. He said that tension arose at Dakdi Chowk of Ghumarwin on Wednesday when the Kashmiri woodcutors of the area were asked to register in front of the police.
Tried to threaten the police
Officials said one of them pointed an ax on the policeman on duty before fleeing from the spot and tried to threaten. The locals, however, caught him and handed him over to the police. Local people say that the said person also showed an ax to intimidate the police and collided with an ax while running away from there and dropped his bike.
When the police questioned, started arguing
Sources said that the policeman posted at Dakdi Chowk had asked the Kashmiri woodcutters of the area to register within three days ago. On Wednesday, when the policeman questioned him again, he started arguing and one of them gave an ax. Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrapal Singh said that the police have registered a case and taken the woodcutter into custody. (With language inputs)
