On May 10, 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out four accurate missile attacks against Pakistan, causing heavy damage to Pakistan’s Air Force and Defense System. These attacks used SCALP missiles launched from Rafale aircraft and BrahMos missiles fired from Sukhoi-30 MKI. The first attack was carried out at Noor Khan Airbase in Chakla, Rawalpindi, the headquarters of Pakistan’s Northern Air Command.
Following these attacks, Pakistan started a retaliation called “Operation Bunian al-Merusus”, which was aimed at destroying Indian Air Force bases in 48 hours. However, the operation ended in just eight hours, and Pakistan appealed to the US to intervene for the ceasefire.
The Indian Air Force targeted several important military bases in Pakistan during these attacks, including Jacobabad and Bholari airbase. In addition, the Indian S-400 Air Defense System killed Pakistan’s SAAB-20000 Airborn Early Warning System 315 km away.
In these attacks, the Indian Air Force also destroyed Pakistan’s C-130J transport aircraft, one JF-17 and two F-16 fighter aircraft. In addition, Chinese-made LY-80 air defense system in Lahore and HQ-9 system in Malir, Karachi were also destroyed.
The Indian Navy also prepared to attack the Karachi naval base, but Pakistan’s DGMO appealed to India to a ceasefire, which deferred the attack.
After these attacks, Pakistan appealed to the US to intervene for the ceasefire, and by the afternoon of May 10, Pakistan demanded a ceasefire.
The operation severely damaged Pakistan’s Air Force and Defense System and demonstrated India’s military capabilities.
