Chamoli: 4 of several feet of snow workers have died due to avalanche at the Border Road Organization i.e. BRO camp located in Mana village of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. A total of 50 of the 55 workers affected by this horrific disaster were found and the search for 5 is still going on. Unfortunately, 4 of the 50 laborers who were successful in removing their lives had to lose their lives. Army officials have informed that rescue operations were started again on Saturday to remove the remaining 5 trapped workers.
‘8 containers and 55 laborers were trapped in a shed’
According to the army, due to the avalanche that took place between 5:30 am and 6 am on Friday, the BRO camp between Mana and Badrinath was engulfed in the snow, causing 8 containers and 55 laborers in a shed. On Friday, the rescue operation was interrupted due to rain and snowfall and the campaign was stopped for some time. Helicopters were also taken help in the rescue operation when the weather was clear on Saturday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the affected area and directed the officials to expedite the rescue operation.
‘Some of the saved workers are broken’
Please tell that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to CM Dhami and assured him of full support. District Disaster Management Officer N. Of. Joshi said that the Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police, i.e. ITBP personnel, rescued the rescue operations in the morning. Some of the rescued workers have broken bone while others have suffered minor injuries. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that the army helicopter is engaged in operation and if the weather is fine, we will soon find out the remaining workers.
CM Dhami talks with an injured laborer
CM Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the avalanche affected area and also interacted with an injured laborer, who was being taken to Jyotirmath for treatment. Dhami said in a post on X, ‘Avalanche near Mana in Chamoli district visited the area affected and took stock of the ongoing relief and rescue operations on the spot. During this time, the workers taken out safely to go to the efficient. Along with this, after getting detailed information from the military officers and administrative teams engaged in rescue work, they gave necessary guidelines. The government is fully committed to all possible help to the affected people in this hour of crisis.
