A female tourist of the attack told that the terrorists first asked the people their religion and then shot. The woman wept on the PCR call and said, ‘I was eating Bhelpuri there, my husband was nearby. A terrorist came, he saw a bangle in my hand and asked my husband his religion. Then shot him. ‘ The woman said that the terrorists opened fire for 3 to 5 minutes and then escaped. According to the information, the attack took place in the area of Pahalgam where tourists often come for tracking and other activities. The terrorists suddenly started firing on tourists.
Quick action of security forces
After the attack, Victor Force, Special Force of the Indian Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF have started a large-scale search operation in the area. The area has been surrounded in search of terrorists, and the security forces are making every effort to arrest them. Lashkar-e-Taiba’s ally TRF has claimed responsibility for this attack. What is TRF? How does it work?
TRF is a terrorist organization that emerged after the cancellation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. This is another name for Pakistan-backed Jihadi terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. The TRF has continuously attacked citizens, especially minority communities such as Kashmiri Pandits, government employees, and tourists. This organization also attacks Indian security forces. TRF tries to show itself secular using non-religious symbols, but its goal is to spread terror in Kashmir.

The attack was part of the strategy to target the minority community. 25 September 2020: Lawyer Babur Qadri murdered | In Srinagar, TRF militants killed prominent lawyer Babur Qadri. The attack was part of targeting influential local celebrities. 5 October 2021: Kashmiri Pandit businessman murdered | TRF shot and killed Kashmiri Pandit businessman Makhan Lal Bindru in Srinagar. 7 October 2021: Two teachers killed in school | TRF militants killed two non-Muslim teachers (a Hindu and a Sikh) at a school in Srinagar. May 31, 2022: School teacher Rajni Bala murdered | In Kulgam, TRF targeted school teacher Rajni Bala. Pakistan -based Lashkar operative Arbaaz Ahmed Mir was the main accused in this attack. 28 February 2023: Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma murdered | TRF terrorists killed Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma, a security guard. The attacker was later killed in an encounter in the attacker Aqib Mustaq Bhat Avantipora. 9 June 2024: Reality Bus Attack | TRF attacked a bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims in Reasi district, killing 9 people and 33 injured. The organization threatened more attacks on tourists and non-local people. 22 April 2025: Pahalgam tourist attack | TRF attacked tourists in Pahalgam, killing a tourist and injured 12–13. PM Modi gave instructions to Shah from Saudi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah after the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir and asked him to take all the appropriate steps to deal with the situation. Official sources said that Modi has asked Shah to visit the Union Territory region.
