26 tourists died and 17 were injured in a terrorist attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This heartbroken incident shocked the entire country. After this attack, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule has demanded an immediate all -party meeting from the central government. Supriya Sule said that this attack is a blot on humanity and the government should clarify its real situation in front of the country. He said, “It is our responsibility to take the trapped citizens safely to their homes.”
Sule spoke of continuously maintaining contact with the Jammu and Kashmir administration and demanded that air fares and rail tickets be subsidized so that the return of tourists would be easy. He has appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for immediate medical aid for five injured tourists from Pune, Asavari Jagdale, Pragati Jagdale, Santosh Jagdale, Kaustubh Ganbote and Sangeeta Gabote.
After the attack, the central and state governments have taken several steps for a safe return of tourists trapped in Kashmir. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduced four additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai. Air India has announced to operate two additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi (11:30 am) and Mumbai (12:00) on 23 April. The DGCA has directed the airlines to increase the number of flights and to waive the cancellation fee so that tourists do not face inconveniences.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has instructed the administration to control and smooth traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, as the road is unstable due to landslides. The Karnataka government has arranged special flight for more than 40 of its trapped tourists. This attack has raised serious questions on tourism and security system in Kashmir. The demand for Supriya Sule’s all -party meeting and the government’s quick steps are important towards dealing with this crisis.
At the same time, this attack has created resentment among people across the country. Terrorists have been scrutinized in this way and shot on the basis of religion. Before killing Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a resident of Haryana, the terrorists inquired about his religion, checked the ID card, yet if satisfaction was not found, then the paint was removed and the religion was detected whether there is a Hindu or a Muslim. Information about the religion of all the dead was taken. When the wife of the deceased said that she was shot to me too, then the terrorists replied that you will not die and tell you to your Modi. After such things came to light, there is an atmosphere of fear among tourists and resentment among the countrymen.
