Panchmukhi idol leaves for Kedarnath Dham, temple doors will open on May 2

Chardham Yatra is considered extremely sacred in Hinduism. One of these is Kedarnath Dham, which is also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The doors of Kedarnath Dham are opened once every year. The doors are going to open on 2 May this year.

Earlier, on April 28, Panchmukhi Chal Vigraha Doli has left for Kedarnath Dham with a law from the winter throne Shri Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath. This journey is a symbol of the glorious traditions of Sanatan Dharma and intensive spiritual faith, in which thousands of devotees became partners with the shouts of Baba Kedar.

Kedarnath Temple, which is an important center of Chardham Yatra and is counted among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, stops for winter every year in November. Due to heavy snowfall, it becomes impossible to reach the temple, so the Panchmukhi idol of Baba Kedar is brought to Ukhimath, where special worship is done for six months.

The doors were closed on 3 November 2024 this year, and now on May 2 at 7 am, the doors will be reopened between Vedic chanting and religious rituals.

The journey of Panchmukhi Doli passes through several stops. On 28 April, Doli left Ukhimath and reached Guptkashi, and on 1 May it will reach Kedarnath Dham. During this time the enthusiasm of the devotees remains at the peak, and the devotional tunes of the army band make the atmosphere more spiritual.

The temple is being decorated grandly with flowers, and the Uttarakhand government has made extensive preparations for the Chardham Yatra.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while sharing the information about the beginning of this journey on social media, described it as a unique expression of Sanatan culture. He also prayed to Baba Kedar for the welfare of all. The Chardham Yatra will start with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri on 30 April, while the doors of Badrinath Dham will open on May 4.

There is great enthusiasm among the devotees about the Kedarnath Yatra. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared in bull form in this temple established by the Pandavas. Every year millions of devotees go on this holy journey of the Himalayas to see Baba Kedar.
