There was a stir when a gas cylinder was found on the railway track near Prempur railway station in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The alertness of the train’s loco pilot averted a major accident when he saw a small gas cylinder lying on the track and immediately stopped the train. This incident has happened for the third time in the last 4 days when a conspiracy to overturn a train has been foiled.
Fish plate found on trek in Surat too
It is being told that at around 9 am, a goods train going from Kanpur to Prayagraj was passing near Prempur railway station. A major accident was averted due to the alertness of the loco pilot of the train. Police and railway officials immediately reached the spot and started investigating the matter. More than a dozen such cases have been reported in the last 1 month across India. This is the third case in Kanpur alone.
Past incidents: Surat and Rudrapur
Earlier, similar incidents were reported at Surat railway station in Gujarat on September 21 and Rudrapur railway station on the Uttarakhand border on September 19. In Surat, the fish plate was opened and placed on the track, while in Rudrapur, a conspiracy was hatched to overturn the train by placing an iron pillar on the railway track.
Increasing conspiracies and security
In recent times, several cases have come to light of plotting a major accident by placing iron rods, boulders, cylinders on the railway tracks. It is feared that terrorists may be behind these. Due to these continuous conspiracies, the railways have increased vigilance.
Keeping in mind the safety of rail passengers, railway officials and police are keeping a constant watch on such cases.
