People from at least five districts of Jammu region are being sent to safe places amidst continuous shelling from Pakistan. The shelling killed 18 people and around 60 injured. So far, thousands of people have been sent to safe places and relief camps. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah along with Deputy Chief Minister Surendra Chaudhary and Minister Satish Sharma visited relief camps in Jammu, Rajouri and Samba districts. He reviewed the arrangements there and assured the displaced families.
Sharma said, “About eight to 10 thousand residents have been evacuated from the border Rajouri-Pantha region.” Sharma said that food and medical facilities are being provided to them there. This shelling has been done at a time when India attacked nine targets of terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the attack by militants on April 22 in Pahalgam. 26 people were killed in an attack by terrorists in Pahalgam and most of the dead were tourists.
After this, Pakistan has continuously fired shells along the Line of Control and International Border, causing damage in Poonch, Mankot, Mendhar, Naushera, Akhnoor, RSpura, Arnia, Samba and Kathua and many other areas. Abdullah also visited relief centers at Mishriwala, Nagbani, Bishnah and Gold Khui, where the officials were instructed to be vigilant. Condemning the aggression of Pakistan, Omar Abdullah said, India has the right to protect its people and the region with full force.
