New Delhi. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the instructions of displaying QR code stickers to those who run dhaba on the Kawad Yatra routes of UP and Uttarakhand. Both states have directed to install QR code stickers so that those who take out the Kavad Yatra can get information about the owners of dhabas and hotels. This petition has been filed by Professor Apurvanand in the Supreme Court.
The petition filed in the Supreme Court states that all instructions to make the identity of food and employees public on the Kandar Yatra routes should be banned. The petition argued that the Supreme Court’s directive to publicly implements the QR code is against the interim order given last year. The petition stated that last year, the Supreme Court said in its order that vendors cannot be forced to reveal identity. The petition said that this year, the officers have given new instructions to identify the shopkeepers on the Kavad Yatra routes, assuming the order of the Supreme Court last year. In which the owners of all eateries have been asked to display the QR code to identify the owners.
The petition filed in the Supreme Court states that the objective of this instruction is to reveal the identity of those selling food on the Kavad Yatra route. This instruction has also been said in the petition that there is no legal basis. Professor Apoorvanand, who petitioned the petition, says that the instruction to display the QR code is going to create religious polarization and discrimination. The petition states that this government order is an encroachment. The petitioner has expressed apprehension in the Supreme Court that such instructions may cause violence against the minority community. The instructions to display the QR code have also been described as a violation of privacy. Apart from this, it has also been described as a violation of the need for license to run a restaurant.
