Ganjam. An actor has been arrested by the police in Ganjam district of Odisha. This actor named Bimbadhar Gowda was acting in a drama related to Ramayana. He became a demon in the play. It is alleged that the actor tore the stomach of a live pig on stage and ate its meat. In the video that has surfaced, it can be seen that the pig was hung on the stage and then Bimbadhar Gowda tore its stomach. The echo of this matter was heard even in the Odisha Assembly. People are also expressing anger over this incident.
According to the police, Bimbadhar Gowda is 45 years old. Bimbadhar Gowda and other actors were performing a play on Ramayana on 24 November 2024 in Ralab village of Hinjali police station area of Ganjam district. An organizer of this play has also been arrested by the police in an animal cruelty case. It is being told that Bimbadhar Gowda, who was playing the role of a demon in the play, suddenly tore the stomach of a pig and started eating its meat on the stage itself. The video of the incident also went viral on social media. After which activists of animal rights organizations demanded action from the police. After which the police arrested Bimbadhar Gowda and an organizer. If the charges are proved, both may face severe punishment. This is the first time that an incident of killing a live animal has taken place in a drama. This has shocked people and even the ruling BJP leaders in Odisha.
Meanwhile, in this case, Forest Officer of Berhampur, Odisha, Sunny Khokhar said that live snakes were also shown in this drama. The Forest Department is searching for the accused in this case. All of them will also be arrested soon. Displaying snakes in public is a crime according to law. In this case, punishment is given under the Wildlife Act. For this reason even snake charmers are no longer seen.
