New Delhi. There is anger in India also over the ongoing violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh and the arrest of former ISKCON secretary Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. There was a big rally in Kolkata against Bangladesh’s move. At the same time, opposition leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have also demanded the Modi government to take appropriate steps in this regard. Amid reports of horrific atrocities coming from Bangladesh, on Thursday, PM Narendra Modi met Foreign Minister S. Had a meeting with Jaishankar. According to sources, the issue of Bangladesh was discussed between Modi and Jaishankar.

In Bangladesh, on August 5 this year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was overthrown. Sheikh Hasina had fled to India to save her life. Only after that, massive violence against Hindus started in Bangladesh. After the incidents of killing of Hindus and arson in temples, PM Modi himself had expressed concern to Mohammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Executive Government of Bangladesh. Modi had told Yunus that violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh should stop, but the violence did not stop there. When the Hindu community took to the streets of Bangladesh in protest against this, harassment started in other ways.

In Bangladesh, the police have registered a case of treason and arrested former ISKCON secretary Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, who protested against the oppression of the Hindu community. Apart from this, the Attorney General of Bangladesh has said that the government is also considering banning ISKCON. There is news of all Indian TV channels being banned in Bangladesh. Even after the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, India had asked Bangladesh to stop incidents of violence and oppression against Hindus, but Bangladesh termed all these matters as its internal issues. In such a situation, the meeting between PM Modi and Foreign Minister Jaishankar is being considered important. It is believed that if the situation remains similar in Bangladesh, then India can take some strict steps against it. It was India that liberated Bangladesh from Pakistan. There has been friendship between Bangladesh and India, but the latest situation has left no stone unturned to create a rift in this friendship.
